CAPTOPRIL TABLETS

CATEGORY:

ANTI HYPERTENSIVE

COMPOSITIONS:

Dosage form                                               STRENGTH
Tablets containing captopril USP                12.5 mg / 25 mg / 50 mg pre tablet
(un-coated / film-coated / sugar-coated)

INDICATIONS:
Severe / resistant hypertension, congestive heart failure, hypertension associated with diabetes.

CONTRA INDICATIONS:

Aortic stenosis, renal impairment, pregnancy, taste disturbance, gastric irritation, rash, pruritus, aphthous mouth ulcers, neutropenia, agranulocytosis proteinuria, nephritic syndrome, hypotension, angioedema, tachycardia, jaundice.

PRECAUTIONS:

In patients on diuretics, withdraw diuretics & correct sodium depletion if any by increasing sodium intake before starting captopril therapy. Reduced doses in renal impaired patients. Pregnancy & lactation, Anaesthesia in CCF, diuretics & digitalis must be given cancurrently, where appropriate.

DOSE:

Adult:  12.5 mg twice a day by month in the treatment of hypertension. Maintenance dose 25 mg to 50 mg twice daily should not exceed 50 mg three times a day.
Children:  1-6 mg/kg body weight in divided doses or as directed by the physician.

STORAGE:

Store in cool, dry place, protected from light at a temperature
Less than 30oc & relative humidity less than 65%
Keep out of reach of children
